MySakhi Music: Where to Listen on Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube

By Nandita, founder of MySakhi10 min read

Maybe you heard a few bars of sarod in a reel at midnight and couldn't stop thinking about it. Maybe a friend sent you a track with a message that just said "for your 3am". Or maybe you are simply tired of searching "calm music" and getting a wall of noise. Either way, you want to find it again, and you want to know what to press play on next.

This is the one page that tells you where every piece of MySakhi music lives, and which track to choose for which moment.

In short: MySakhi music is a library of 29 original instrumental tracks, tuned to 432Hz and built on Indian ragas, made for women in perimenopause and menopause. Listen free in the MySakhi app and at mysakhi.life, on Spotify under the artist MySakhi, on YouTube in 20-minute and 1-hour versions, and on Apple Music and Amazon Music by searching MySakhi.

What is MySakhi music?

MySakhi is a free app for women in perimenopause and menopause, with short guided breathing practices, sleep stories, calming 432Hz music and Sakhi, an AI companion who suggests what might help tonight. The music is there for the moments you want calm without anyone talking to you.

There are 29 original tracks, and each one also comes in a 20-minute and a 1-hour version for longer listening. Every track is instrumental, with no lyrics pulling your mind back into words. Each is built on an Indian raga, apart from one slow piano piece in D minor and one ambient piece made from the sound of crystal bowls.

The ragas in the library are Yaman, Bageshri, Malkauns, Chandrakauns, Hansadhwani, Ahir Bhairav, Todi, Bhairavi, Bhimpalasi, Desh, Megh and Kedar. You will hear the sitar, sarod, bansuri, santoor, veena, sarangi, shehnai, dilruba, esraj, surbahar, harmonium and tabla, and on some tracks the low hum of the tanpura.

Each track was made for a specific feeling, which is why the titles read like short sentences: "Midnight Knows Your Name." "You Don't Need To Try." "Morning Arrives Without Permission." Think of them as music for सुकून, that deep, settled kind of comfort.

Where can you listen to MySakhi music?

You don't need a new subscription or a special device. You need whichever app is already on your phone. Here is every place you can find MySakhi.

In the MySakhi app

The app, called MySakhi: Menopause Companion, is free to download on the App Store. Inside you will find the music alongside guided breathing practices and sleep stories, plus Bedtime mode for winding down and daily symptom and mood check-ins. Sakhi is free too. Tell her how you feel and she will suggest a track, a practice or a story for that moment.

On the MySakhi website

On any phone or computer, you can listen free in the MySakhi library. Every track has its own page, so you can bookmark your favourite and go straight to it at night. Hindi guided practices are free at mysakhi.life/hi.

Which MySakhi music helps at night?

Here is a simple guide to choosing by feeling, using real tracks from the library. You can't choose wrong. If one doesn't suit you tonight, try another tomorrow.

  • When you can't fall asleep: "Night Fell. She Was Ready." (Raga Yaman, sarod) or "Follow The Night River." (Raga Bageshri, dilruba).
  • When you wake at 3am: "Midnight Knows Your Name." (Raga Malkauns, tanpura) or "The River Moves At Night." (Raga Bageshri, sarod).
  • When anxiety keeps you up: "Your Breath Already Knows." (Raga Bageshri, sitar) or "Be Still. The Water Knows." (Raga Chandrakauns, sitar).
  • When you need a tiny full stop before bed: "Let The Moon Carry It." (Raga Chandrakauns, singing bowl), under a minute and a half.
  • When grief is heavy at night: "A Letter You Never Sent." (Raga Hansadhwani, tanpura) or "The Descent Is The Healing." (Raga Malkauns, surbahar).

If you want these in a running order for a whole night, the sleep music playlist for women over 40 lays them out from wind-down to the early hours.

Which MySakhi music helps during the day?

  • When stress has built up by evening: "Evening Doesn't Ask. It Holds." (Raga Yaman, sitar), "The Flute Plays At Dusk." (Raga Yaman, bansuri) or "A River Runs Through You." (Raga Bageshri, bansuri).
  • When you feel restless and wound up: "Breathe. The Flute Remembers." (Raga Hansadhwani, bansuri).
  • When mornings come too soon: "Dawn Breaks Before You're Ready." (Raga Ahir Bhairav, shehnai) or "Morning Arrives Without Permission." (Raga Todi, veena).
  • When your mind is racing: "When Stillness Has A Sound." (Raga Chandrakauns, singing bowl) or "Silence Has A Colour." (piano in D minor).
  • When the afternoon slump hits: "Afternoons Were Made For This." (Raga Bhimpalasi, santoor) or "Heavy Days Need Soft Sound." (Raga Malkauns, harmonium).
  • When you feel nostalgic or lonely: "Rain On An Empty Veranda." (Raga Megh, tabla) or "Monsoons Clean More Than Dust." (Raga Desh, sitar).
  • When you are burnt out: "What If You Just Stopped?" (Raga Malkauns, santoor) or "You Don't Need To Try." (crystal bowls).
  • When you doubt yourself: "Falling Is Not Failing." (Raga Malkauns, sarangi) or "Devotion Is Not Performance." (Raga Kedar, sarangi).
  • When you have carried too much: "She Carried It All. Then Sang." (Raga Bhairavi, tabla).

Still not sure? That is exactly what Sakhi is for. Tell her "I'm exhausted but wired" or "I keep waking at 3am", and she will suggest something for that moment.

Try this now: 5 minutes with one MySakhi track

You don't need a quiet house or a perfect mood. You need one track and five minutes. This works in bed, in the car or at your desk with earphones.

  1. Pick the moment from the guide above that sounds most like right now, and press play on that track.
  2. Turn the volume down until the music sits in the background.
  3. Breathe in through your nose for four counts and out through your mouth for six.
  4. Listen for the lowest sound in the track and let your attention rest there.
  5. When the music ends, take one more slow breath and notice one thing that feels even slightly softer.

It's okay if your mind wanders the whole time. Coming back, again and again, is the practice. That counts.

Is 432Hz music proven to help?

Honestly, not yet. Evidence for 432Hz specifically is limited. One small 2019 study found a slightly lower heart rate with 432Hz music than with 440Hz. MySakhi tunes everything to 432Hz for its soft, consistent feel, not because of a medical promise. More broadly, a 2022 Cochrane review found that listening to music may improve sleep quality for adults with insomnia. What matters most is whether a sound calms you. The full story is in what 432Hz music is, honestly.

The same honesty applies to ragas. Raga time theory, the idea that certain ragas belong to certain hours, is tradition and lived experience, not proven science. It is a lovely way to choose music, not a rule you have to follow. Evening ragas for sleep explores it gently.

Music, a guided voice or a story?

Not every night calls for the same thing. What if the kindest choice tonight is a voice that does the thinking for you? Some nights you want silence with a melody. Other nights you need a voice to follow, or a story to carry your mind away from your worries. Music or a guided voice helps you choose, and inside MySakhi sleep stories introduces The Night Garden, The Train to Jaisalmer and Naani Ki Rasoi. For a closer look at the longer YouTube versions, read why 20 minutes of calm music works.

When is music not enough?

Music is a comfort, not a cure. If you have struggled to sleep for weeks, talk to your doctor: CBT for insomnia (CBT-I) is the first-line treatment for long-term insomnia. If low mood or anxiety is affecting your daily life, please ask for support. And if you ever have thoughts of harming yourself, contact your local emergency services or a crisis helpline now.

To see everything else MySakhi offers, from Bedtime mode to Circles like Restful Nights and Cool Down, read a free menopause app that feels like a friend.

Start with one track tonight

You don't need the whole library. You need permission to press play on one thing and stop there. Follow MySakhi on Spotify, open the MySakhi library, or tell Sakhi how your night is going. Then let "The River Moves At Night." carry you for five minutes.

5 minutes. No mat. No mantra. Just you.
